Context
Following the health crisis, Bordeaux Mérignac Airport (ADBM) is seeking to strengthen its economic recovery and optimize its non-aeronautical revenues. Faced with increasing competition and evolving passenger expectations, the airport aims to better understand its customers and improve the quality of its services.
At the same time, ADBM must also address environmental challenges and promote innovation.
In this context, the redesign of the e-commerce platform emerges as a key strategic lever.

Clients Request
The airport aimed to deploy a new e-commerce platform bringing together all passenger services, whether internal (parking, lounge, fast-track) or offered by partners (flight tickets, etc.). This solution seeks to simplify the purchasing process with a unified shopping cart and to centralize customer information through a dedicated area. The platform must integrate with the airport’s existing systems while complying with applicable regulations.
At the same time, it will have to enable simplified back-office management and improved customer insights.
This new e-commerce platform is an essential component in the development of Bordeaux airport. It must be scalable, allowing specific features to be added as needed.
Project Description
The project involved several key stages:
1. Scoping: A number of scoping workshops were held to define the airport’s roadmap and requirements for the site’s main functionalities.
2. Design: An in-depth benchmark, the definition of user journeys and the information gathered during the scoping phase were used to create the necessary UX/UI designs for the project. Additionally, functional and technical specifications were written to guide development.
3. Implementation: This phase covered all back-end and front-end developments. From a technical perspective, the solution is built on:
- Sylius for the e-commerce solution
- Easy Admin for managing products and editorial content, indexed via Elastic Search
- Integration with two Symfony modules: a Pricing module and a Availability module, for managing prices and stocks
- Interfacing with various third-party service providers such as Axepta (PSP), Brevo (e-mailing solution), Docoon (document certification), Option Way (airline ticket engine), Paxtrack (management of ticket-cutting coupons), Scheidt & Bachmann (management of car park entries/exits).
- Exporting transactions to CRM (Edeal) and other tools (Kowee/SAP)
4. Functional and Technical Testing
After a suitability testing phase, the Bordeaux airport e-commerce platform was launched in November 2024.
The project continues to evolve under the TMA contract, with an ambitious roadmap planned for 2025.
Observed results
- Over 400,000 visits per month
- Approximately 12,000 orders per month
Bordeaux airport is delighted with the deployment of its new e-commerce platform, which centralises all its commercial services (parking, ticket sales, lounges access, flight tickets, etc.) within a single space. The user journey has been optimized, offering a simplified experience with the ability to combine multiple services in a unified shopping cart. On the back-office side, administrators have fully embraced the tool, which has been designed to meet the airport’s specific needs.
